Anní Mara is an Icelandic artist who is working between Iceland and the UK.
Her practice employs text and photography to examine human relationships with natural or built enviroments. Her photography practice is often rooted in the relationship between the personal and social and is heavily influenced by the notion of anthropology, legacy and psychology. Inspired by the small details in daily being, she takes the obvious- often forgotten- and puts it in front of the viewer.
Avoiding any extra noise, Mara creates clean, minimalistic and often abstract images, focused on one subject and message at the time.
Graduated BA (Hons) Fine Art Photography at the Glasgow School of Art, she has been published in several publications and has been exhibited in solo and group shows in the UK, Iceland and Estonia.
